Chicago White Sox Information

The Chicago White Sox' started their first season in Major League Baseball in 1901 strong, finishing the year with an American League Championship. The White Sox played to contention nearly every year and were poised to win another World Series Championship in 1919 until the team fell short to scandal. The "Black Sox," as they were nicknamed after the 1919 World Series, had eight players involved in a scandal in which they agreed to throw the series in exchange for a sum of money from gamblers. Of those eight players, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson is most famous for confessing, after going against the deal and playing his best baseball. Over the years, the Chicago White Sox have utilized the talents of 32 Hall-of-Famers including pitcher Ed Walsh, catcher Ray Schalk, and 2nd baseman Nelie Fox. The White Sox currently play at U.S. Cellular Field and have played there since 1991. The Chicago White Sox' team records include three World Series Championships in five World Series Appearances, three LCS appearances, six American League pennants, and four division titles.

This 2008 season has started out great for the Chicago White Sox. The team currently holds a 37-28 winning record, which places them at the #1 spot atop the American League Central division. Manager Ozzie Guillen had spent the entire off-season looking to re-vamp their roster, acquiring seven new players including Olympic Gold medal winner, 2nd baseman Alexei Ramirez. The team adds this depth to an already overwhelming talented roster including All-Star Silver Slugger Award winners Jermaine Dye and Joe Crede in addition to All-Star pitcher Mark Buehrle and All-Star catcher A.J. Pierzynski. With the amount of talent on their roster, White Sox tickets will be hard to come by this season as the team looks to win another American League pennant and bring back the World Series Championship to Chicago.
